CONTINENTAL SHELF can be understood as much through illusion as through the tangible. Their latest act, GENUINE INTEREST, sees Rob Summerhays and Nick Pitman running back and forth between levers and pulleys, animating little more than a head and an arm to cast forth intricate, tireless silhouettes. Adopting a more stream-of-consciousness approach to both lyrics and songwriting, their vivid apparitions attempt to reach beyond the conscious thoughts of the listener to tease out deeper suspicion–wait, are we connecting right now?
